So first I have to acknowledge the CigarDojo staff (believe it was Steve) who blessed us with his Bourbon genius. If it wasn't for the Dojo Birthday Herf, I probably would never have given Eagle Rare Bourbon a look or consideration. Now, I am by no means a Bourbon expert, in fact up until recently I was more of single malt/ scotch (and red wine) kinda guy. But now in this phase of my tasting palate evolution, I have grown a sincere appreciation for Bourbon. Bottled by Buffalo Trace Distillery Frankfort KY Aged: 10 years Type: Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey 90 Proof When I first gave it a taste, I was hit with mild sweetness infused with what I describe as a green corn husk taste. As I continued to sip on it and tried to pinpoint tasting notes - I was able to pick up slight hints of honey, lots of vanilla, and mild oak. As my palate got used to what I was drinking, the green corn taste dissipated and some of the other flavors mentioned came forward. The aroma is very mild, not as punchy as other single barrel bourbons, and pleasant to the nose. I will say this, trying this bourbon for the first time was a treat and a different experience. I found it for $27 at a local liquor store, though I have seen it at a big chain store (Total Wine) for $30. In short I will buy this bottle again and again.
