American Prairie is a blend of straight bourbons that are at least 2 years old. These bourbons are sourced from other distilleries and then blended and bottled by High West in Utah. Technical Details as stated by High West are: •TTB designation: A Blend of Straight Bourbons •Whiskey #1: 2-year-old bourbon MGP Seagrams Indiana; mashbill 75% corn, 20% rye, 5% barley malt. •Whiskey #2: 6-year-old bourbon from Kentucky (cannot disclose source). •Whiskey #3: 13-year-old bourbon from Kentucky (cannot disclose source). •Ratio of whiskies: top secret! •Bottled at 46% ABV •Filtration: not chill-filtered, not carbon treated •Barrel type: new charred quercus alba (white American oak) Accolades include: Silver Medal - Bourbon - High Rye - Whiskeys of the World 2015 92 Points - The Tasting Panel Tasting notes: When sipped neat the 2 year old bourbon dominates the palate with rye and oak. With a spoonful of water or two the rye backs off and notes from the older bourbons come through. Carmel, vanilla, and honey on the front of the pallet and then the oak and a smoother rye spice take over on the finish. This is a nice well rounded bourbon full of flavor.
