Knob Creek Single is a brand of Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey produced by Beam Inc. at the Jim Beam distillery in Clermont, Kentucky. This is the single barrel version of the regular Knob Creek Bourbon. There is also a Rye version.

    Specifics:
    AGED 9 YRS
    PROOF 120

    I've Had that!

My thoughts... Knob Creek Single barrel is a perfect way to get into the small batch bourbon scene. It's a buttery, caramel, and is packed with flavor! I like to drink it neat and just take small sips and let the flavor explode in my mouth. It's a very strong bourbon (120 proof) so you need to be prepared.

Knob Creek Single Barrel is typically under $40 and I have found it as cheap as $25 for 750 ml

Be careful because Knob Creek Single Barrel is the gateway bourbon to Pappy's and al the other rare yet delicious bourbons. :)

    I'VE HAD THAT!!

I really like Single Barrel Bourbons...they don't have the perfectly blended tastes of their brethren but are all quite unique. Knob 9 is a perfect example. It's sweet maple syrup and caramel fall over the tongue burning down the backside as the high alcohol content makes itself known. I've never had a bad pour...only small ones.

    Ya I've had that

Definitely one of the best "bang for your buck" bourbons available. It has just the right strength at 120 proof, with a burn that lets you know it's there - then a rush of caramely, nutty flavors that zing through the nostrils. This is like Knob Creek boiled down to a more sinister, syrupy concoction!

Although I'm not certain it is actually "single barrel", every taste I've ever had is always the same, they also don't list any of the info that companies usually list on the bottle (like the lot, barrel number, etc.). Of course the proof is always the same, but I understand that they are able to "water down" the bourbon to a specific proof and retain a single barrel... it just has me curious.

This along with Bookers has scotch playing 2nd fiddle to a once diehard scotch fan.

I'VE HAD THAT! Just bought a bottle the other day! Had a couple of glasses so far! Took me a bit to get used to it since I was mostly a Jack D drinker! Good taste with a knockout punch at the end! The retro hale is a bit strong but good! Cannot wait to develop my palate for the Scotches and bourbons out there! Thanks Eric for this informative forum!

Finally tried this, it was alright. To me it seemed more like a mixing bourbon. I really didn't like the heat and the bite of it a splash of water helped but still not too impressed. Kinda odd, cause I love the E.H. Taylor barrel proof seems smooth at 130ish proof. Noah's mill at 114. Guess its not the proof must just be in the taste or something...

Most Knob Creek has that heat to me. I have to be in the mood for it.
